About the event
CALL FOR PAPERS: 2nd ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING of the CANADIAN ENVIRONMENTAL CRIME RESEARCH NETWORK
Following the success of the CECRN Launch Event in 2025, which brought together nearly 100 participants, the Steering Committee is preparing for the Network’s 2026 meeting. This upcoming event will feature a diverse lineup of speakers—including academic and civil society researchers, authors and filmmakers, advocates and capacity builders, as well as environmental enforcement practitioners.
Environmental Crime at the Planetary Crises Crossroads
Environmental crime contributes enormously to the triple planetary crisis identified by the United Nations - climate change, biodiversity loss, and pollution. Though multilateral agreements and national policy goals in these areas are pursued, they will be severely undermined by illicit activities designed to profit from the over-exploitation of the natural environment. Preventing and addressing the impacts of environmental crime has never been as important as it is right now.
